This option determines whether the audio and video files are backed up internally (directly in the database) or externally (path archmulti
). If this option is not enabled, audio and video files are backed up directly to the database. This means that access may be less fast, because e.g. a 10 GByte video file must first be extracted from the database before it can be played in WebDMS.
The outsourcing of audio and video files also means that these files are no longer included in the calculation of the decisive database size, as only the preview images are stored in the database itself. This means that even with the ArchivistaBox Dolder (at 20 GBytes) a large number of video and audio files can be managed. However, it must be ensured that the hard disk has sufficient storage space.
It is recommended to activate this option whenever video and/or audio files are to be managed. Without this option, access to large video and audio files in ArchivistaDMS is rather slow.
