The new master release for the years 2025 to 2029 was released at the end of 2024. In contrast to the last “major“ release, the changes appear to be less significant. However, it should be noted that there have been so many evolutionary enhancements in the last five years that the ArchivistaBox in 2025 should not be compared with an ArchivistaBox from 2020.
The current version is still based on our open source Linux distribution AVMultimedia. This means that not only is a modern desktop available on every ArchivistaBox, but all applications and tools are also available for editing multimedia files and managing them in ArchivistaDMS.
The size of the databases was increased from 8 TByte to 200 TByte. As far as we know as a supplier, there is currently no solution with this amount of data. However, standard systems have now reached several dozen TBytes of data. This proves that even very large multimedia archives (up to millions of audio and video files) can run with an ArchivistaBox Matterhorn.
The web interface of the ArchivistaBox has been considerably refined for current smartphones, just as constant updates ensure that all current web browsers are optimally supported.
What has remained is the downward compatibility with the previous ArchivistaBox systems. This has been the case for well over 25 years. A document management system (DMS) is not just about structuring data on a hard disk or mapping workflows, it must also ensure that data can be managed over several decades.
By supporting the M-Disk format (100 GByte per disk), ArchivistaBox is the only DMS solution on the market to offer an interface to non-rewritable data carriers. This means that data can be stored securely and unalterably for many decades. And anyone who now thinks that anyone can promise this should be told that CDR disks were already being propagated for data storage when the Archivista solution was introduced in 1998. These data carriers can still be read today without any problems. This is also because all data in the Archivista solution has been archived in compliance with ISO9660 since 1998. With this in mind, we wish you every success with the current ArchivistaBox.
