Included on every ArchivistaBox is Shotcut, a video editing program. Also optionally available is Kdenlive, which can also be used to effortlessly create video projects up to and including 4K. Both programs have in common that many smaller video and audio files are merged into a finished edited contribution. This can result in several hundred to thousands of files per project. The corresponding files are managed via a project file in XML format.
With the 'Archiving (Kdenlive/Shotcut)' utility, either a Kdenlive or Shotcut project can be transferred to ArchivistaDMS. In doing so, all media snippets are transferred cleanly (and keyworded) to ArchivistaDMS in such a way that the project can be exported again later.
After calling up the program via the ArchivistaBox menu, the project file must be selected from either Kdenlive or Shotcut. Then the database must be specified so that the entire project can be imported to it. When importing, the project name will be added to all files in the 'Title' field. Once the process is complete, the corresponding project is cleanly activated in ArchivistaDMS.
Now projects can not only be imported, but also exported again. To do this, a query must first be made in WebDMS using the 'Title' field with the project name entered. The hits generated in this way can now be exported via the menu item 'Export source files'. The finished export is located in the SMB/FTP share of the relevant ArchivistaBox in the 'temp' directory. The desired changes can now be made to the project using Shotcut and/or Kdenlive. In order to also transfer this version of the project to ArchivistaDMS, a new project name must be assigned. The project can then be transferred to ArchivistaDMS again.
To work with this program, the option 'Ignore duplicate data' must be activated in WebAdmin under 'Manage archive'. This will save the audio and video snippets over all project changes only once.
