4.12.2 From Information to Documents
What type and number of documents are waiting to be processed? If there are only digital documents, no scanner is necessary. If there are very few documents in paper form, a smartphone/camera can also be used. If there are larger volumes of old documents to be captured or a daily volume of about 20 or more pages, it is worthwhile to purchase a scanner.
The following applies: The higher the number of paper documents, the more likely it is that a high-performance scanner (with duplex feed) will be purchased. In addition to the scanning speed, the quality of the feeder is also important; does the scanner process your documents (e.g. thick or thin paper) without any problems? Special scanners are necessary to capture large-format receipts, books, photos (negatives) or slides. Alternatively, there are scanning service providers who can do this work for you.
